Shipping container available now: buying containers from stock

Choosing & Buying · 5 min read · Updated 12 Jul 2026

In short: Yes, at HEROX a shipping container is available for immediate delivery from our own stock held at European depots, without brokers or middlemen. After a quote request stating the type you want and the delivery location, you receive a price on working days within an hour, including the delivery time. The container is then usually placed on the desired spot within 3 to 7 working days by crane truck or sideloader. Both new (one-trip) and used containers are quickly available this way, to buy or to hire.

If you need a shipping container quickly, you don't want to wait weeks for a quote or a delivery routed through an unclear chain of middlemen. At HEROX a shipping container is available for immediate delivery from our own European stock: you know where you stand fast, and the container is usually on site within a week.

In short
  • Direct importer with our own stock at European depots, no middlemen.
  • Quote with price, availability and delivery date on working days within an hour.
  • Delivery typically within 3 to 7 working days by crane truck or sideloader.
  • Sizes 10ft, 20ft, 40ft and 45ft, new (one-trip) or used.
  • Buy or hire, with payment upfront, after delivery or in instalments.
  • Every used container is CSC-inspected and guaranteed wind and watertight.

What "available now" actually means

Available for immediate delivery means the container does not first have to be ordered from a factory or via an intermediary trader, but is already physically present at one of the European depots. Because HEROX imports directly and holds its own stock, the waiting time that arises when a seller first has to source a container after your order disappears. In practice that often saves days to weeks.

After your request, the local team immediately checks the availability of the type and size you want. If the container is in stock, a concrete quote follows with price, availability and delivery date. That process runs by email on working days within an hour, so you are not left in the dark for days.

Shipping container in stock: what are the options

A shipping container in stock comes in various sizes and configurations. The most requested sizes are 10ft (around 3 metres), 20ft (around 6 metres) and 40ft (around 12 metres). On top of that there is the 45ft variant of around 13.7 metres. High Cube configurations are 30 centimetres taller than standard, with an internal height of 2.70 metres, giving extra loading volume. Double door, open side, flat rack and refrigerated containers are also available on request.

Alongside the standard sizes there is a choice between new and used. New (one-trip) has made exactly one sea voyage and is in virtually as-new condition; used (cargo-worthy or A-grade) is guaranteed wind and watertight, CSC-inspected and inspected at the depot, and often offers the best value for money for storage. Unsure which size fits, take a look at which shipping container size to choose. Want to know the difference between conditions, then read buying a new or used shipping container.

Straight from stock, ready for your application

If you want to convert the container into an office or workshop, that is done in our own workshop before delivery. Think of extra access doors, windows, electrics, insulation or a lock box against break-ins. You can read more about this in converting a shipping container into an office, workshop or garage. The examples below come straight from the current stock of your branch.

Shipping container price: what determines the cost

The price of a shipping container depends on the type, the size, the condition (new or used) and any modifications. Transport counts too: the distance to the depot and how accessible the location is both play a role in the final price. You receive an exact price, including transport, only after a quote request with the desired specifications and delivery location. You can read more background in what a shipping container costs. There are three ways to pay:

Payment options

Payment methodBenefit
Upfront by bank transfer5 per cent discount on the purchase price
Pay after deliverySee it first, then pay: no risk of paying in advance without delivery
Payment in instalments (up to 36 months)Via licensed European financing partners

If you find the same container in the same condition cheaper somewhere else, the lowest price guarantee applies: HEROX matches that price and adds an extra discount on top. Just send in the competing quote.

Shipping container to buy or hire: what suits your situation

Besides buying, a shipping container is also available to hire, with a monthly rate that depends on type, condition and term. Hiring is especially attractive for temporary needs, such as a renovation or event, while buying usually works out cheaper for long-term use. You can find more details about hire rates and terms in hiring a shipping container: monthly rate, term and flexible options. A broader comparison can be read in buying or hiring a shipping container.

If you are torn between buying and hiring for a construction project, then buying or hiring a site container is a good starting point. If you are interested in hiring, simply pass on your name and phone number; a tailored hire proposal follows.

How quickly the container is with you

Once the quote is approved, the delivery is scheduled. Transport is carried out by crane truck or sideloader, and the container is placed exactly where you want it. Delivery usually takes 3 to 7 working days, provided the ground is reasonably flat and firm and the location is accessible to a lorry. This applies across Europe, regardless of region; see also buying or hiring a shipping container by region for regional details. Transport costs depend on distance and accessibility, as explained in container transport costs.

Buying safely without a middleman

Because HEROX imports directly and manages its own stock at European depots, there is no intermediate link that slows down or muddies the process. That means one point of contact from quote to delivery, transparency about origin and inspection, and secure payment methods. In the container trade there are unfortunately parties that ask for full payment in advance without delivering; that is why HEROX offers, as standard, the option to pay after delivery or to finance in instalments. You can read more about this in buying a shipping container safely without a middleman.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean that a shipping container is available now?

It means the container is already physically in stock at one of HEROX's European depots, rather than being sourced only after your order. That removes the waiting time that normally arises with middlemen, and delivery can usually take place within 3 to 7 working days.

How quickly do I get a quote for a container in stock?

After you provide the type of container you want and the delivery location, you receive a concrete quote by email on working days within an hour, with price, availability and delivery date. Your name plus a phone number or email address is needed for this.

What does a shipping container cost on average?

The price depends on size, type, condition (new or used) and any modifications, plus transport costs that depend on distance and accessibility. You receive an exact price including transport after a quote request covering your specific situation.

Can I also hire a container from stock instead of buying it?

Yes, containers from stock are also available to hire, with a monthly rate that depends on type, condition and term. Hiring is especially suited to temporary needs, while buying is usually cheaper for long-term use. Provide your details for a tailored hire proposal.

Is it safe to pay in advance when buying a shipping container?

Alongside paying upfront with a discount, HEROX also offers the option to pay after delivery or to finance in instalments via licensed European financing partners. That avoids the risk of paying in advance without delivery, something that unfortunately occurs in the sector with less transparent providers.
